There probably aren't a lot of people who like losing, but losing seems to be the theme regardless once most of The Sun's dust settles. It's even more annoying when you've spent the past few years being a time-traveller in your original universe, and now you can't go back and fix things here. Despite her best efforts in helping her friends in bringing their friend back, that death turned out to be permanent, and The Sun's magic rituals and weird ass cult were solidifying their hold on the City. Whatever slight tilt back to sanity Clint was making evaporated, so the crime in the City had a katana-wielding Ronin to watch out for once more. And she wouldn't get in the way of however the effect of losing their wife and daughter would effect Steve and Erik, respectively, because if they were going to burn the City down for it, hey that sounds reasonable to Sara, but she also knew better than to not help them do it unless they asked. And fuck knows what Harry is going to maybe get into (blowing up The Sun's offices for real probably is a possibility, she thinks).
So, Sara is fucking off to the desert planet for her new homebase. She'll build a shelter there, the bare minimums probably, with running water somehow, and come back to the City for when she needs more supplies every so often.
Once she's landed, she fires off a text to Harry:
I'm relocating to the desert planet. Don't do anything too horrifically stupid.
Harry, from getting out of another pod, a few minutes later, pulling a for-real little red wagon, coughs.
"Hey. Mind some company away from the chaos?"
Back in the city, it's right about then that his latest magic explosion goes off, and the lights on the travel pods blink out. Harry just grins innocently.
"Your company?" She asks with a smirk. "I never mind that kind of company. I figured you would have been busy... raising hell or razing it, depending."
"Glad to hear it. I brought supplies and sent some ahead of me to the delivery spot."
He grins as he walks toward her. Somewhere back in the city, explosions are still going off, in timed order, and others, much more suited to ongoing mayhem, are taking advantage of them and the holes they open up. But him? He is done.
"I'm tired, Sara. I broke some things back there, and have set more things in motion for others, but that city has robbed me of too much already. I am not letting the one really good thing it gave me get away." And he was looking at her, eyes warm and sure.
"You definitely need a break. Without a time travelling ship, I'm sitting this round out unless someone asks me to help." She steps closer to wrap her arms around him in a hug. "Welcome to the planet of ...para...dise? Sure. We can call it that."
"Sounds like a good name, to me." He presses a kiss to her hair and snuggles her in that hug, relaxing for the first time in days.
"I really do need a break, and I did some question asking and I am thinking we should find ourselves somewhere to hole up and enjoy life for a little while."
he glances back at his little red wagon, piled high as it was with stuff.
"Sounds like as good of a start as we're going to get, so I'll take it. What did you pack?" She pulls away only slightly, not wanting to break away fully just yet, but enough to look over at the wagon of stuff.
"Basic survival supplies. Food, water, whiskey, desert plant seeds for food plants, a tent or two, collapsible shovels, ropes, pitons, hammers, eye protection, gloves, nipple clamps, lube, underwear, robes, some changes of clothing, sunscreen, two machetes, two knife sharpeners, a katana I found in a corner shop, a machine gun with several hundred rounds, fighting staves for sparring, and books, plus a bunch of magic supplies."
Harry finished reeling things off, and grinned. There was more in the towering pile on his wagon, and he shrugged.
"The longer we do not have to go back, the better."
"Sounds like all manners of fun. Enough to keep us occupied whether it's food searching or magic stuff or sex." And way more of all of the above than she had when she was stranded on an island once upon a time in technically her last life. "Should we find a good spot to start setting up?"
"Not for a lengthy amount of time before, no. But it wasn't the jungle planet because fuck that one, and it wasn't the one that was mostly water. Options suck, blah blah lesser of evils."
Or something like that.
She exhales softly, mostly. And pauses for a beat or two. "I know it wasn't really kind to anyone and probably never will be, so I may just be saying a no shit thing here, but I'm sorry. About what life in the city dealt you." His particular set of circumstances seemed especially unfair -- the ageing and deaging curse he was dealing with here, and the shit sandwich that was awkward exes and dead friends, et cetera.
"Thank you. I appreciate it, but you made it better, you know? I know we never... said anything more than friendship and sex, but... you made it a lot better by being around. And I am very glad you were there and are here, frankly."
He nods, eyes downcast for a long moment, before he raises them, and smiles at her."I like the idea of trying to make a life here, with you." He is terrified, frankly, that this will not last and he will lose her too, but he will not live without hope, and he will not let fear rule him.
"I'm glad I could, because you did the same for me. And still do. I didn't expect you to follow me here, either, but I'm also glad you did that. There's a grand total of zero magistrates living on this planet, so I like our odds for inhabiting it."
"There's probably some to be found around here somewhere." She nods. "Maybe we can make like NASA and find new planets, even. I don't know." Maybe it's just her desire to be as far away from the City as possible talking and hoping there.
"Worth a shot. I can shape metals sooo... we just need a blueprint." Just. Yeah, those are lying around everywhere (ha right). "But I think the City is too busy with its mess and three levels of rebellion to notice or care what we do."
"And in the meantime, we will live, and have fun, and ignore that city so long as we can." He nods at her again, eyes dancing with amusement, and with contentment, of a kind, anyway.
"Perfect." And when they come to a good looking spot (or, at least as good as she thinks they'll find to set up camp), she stops and flops to the ground.
"Alright, I declare break time before unpacking time." She laughs slightly.

"Breaktime sounds good to me."
He grins as he lays back, shaking his head.
"We have our own schedule here, no time forced by others, so far. And that will be weird, but nice."
